As
another step in the the New Orleans area’s economic recovery, the U.S.
Department of Commerce and the World Trade Center will host a one-day
major conference at the WTC on March 30, 2006 on business opportunities
for U.S. companies with five large multilateral development banks. The
"Banking On Development" conference will highlight the activities
of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian
Development Bank, the African Development Bank, and the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development. In order to improve the living
standards of their developing member countries, these financial
institutions extend a combined total of $40 - $50 billion annually in
loans, grants, and investments to the public and private sectors for
economic and social development.
